People Over Politics: Drew’s Priorities

My guiding principles have always been ‘Service above Self’ and ‘People over Politics’. As a City of Thornton Council member, my focus is serving you and enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Thornton. As a Thornton resident of 15 years, I’ve witnessed our city's rapid growth alongside you. Thornton needs strong leadership committed to solving today’s challenges while thoughtfully shaping a thriving future. My mission is to keep our city safe, sustainable, and an attractive place where our kids and grandkids will be proud to call home.

As your City Council representative, I will:

  • Scenic landscape with turquoise lake surrounded by rolling hills and mountains under a cloudy sky.

    Strengthen Public Safety

Advocate for well-funded, well-equipped, and well-trained police and fire departments. I will work with our law enforcement team to make sure they have what they need to crush crime in our neighborhoods, eliminate car theft in our streets, and keep fentanyl out of Thornton. I will work with our fire department and emergency management team to make sure they are ready and capable to tackle any emergency and natural disaster. I will also work with our police and city /regional staff to create short term and long term solutions to the growing homelessness problem edging into our communities.

  • Mountain landscape with snow-capped peaks and a small building in the foreground.

    Support Smart Growth

Ensure responsible expansion that prioritizes sustainable water use & smart infrastructure investments, creates more housing ownership options for first-time homebuyers and seniors, and attracts high-paying jobs. These thoughtful actions now will keep our city a desirable and attainable place to live not only for us now but for future generations that will call Thornton home.

    Champion Local Businesses

Advance smart policies that reduce barriers and red tape for businesses, making it easier for local businesses to open, grow, and stay in Thornton. By streamlining permitting processes, fostering public-private partnerships, and building a business-friendly environment, we can attract new investment, support entrepreneurs and local business owners, and strengthen our local economy. A thriving business community means more jobs, enhanced city services, and a vibrant city for all residents.

    Reimagine Eastlake's Commercial Corridor

Ignite public and private investment in this historic area, honoring its rich past while embracing innovation to create a vibrant, uniquely Thornton destination for dining, shopping, and community gatherings. By intentionally prioritizing Eastlake’s future, the commercial corridor along Lake Ave and 1st Street can transform itself into a dynamic hub that blends historic charm with modern amenities. Enhancing walkability, supporting small businesses, and improving public spaces will foster a welcoming atmosphere for residents and visitors alike. Investing in regular community events, the Eastlake Streetscape plan, the adaptive reuse of the historic Eastlake Grain Elevator, local artisans, and cultural programming will further establish Eastlake as a must-visit destination, reinforcing its role in Thornton’s identity.

  • Improve Infrastructure & Transportation

Invest in better roads and innovative solutions that reduce congestion, improve connectivity between neighborhoods, and ensure safer, more accessible streets for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. I will work not only with our transportation, engineering, and planning departments but also with you our community to ensure we are creating practical solutions.

  • Create an Amenity-Rich City

Expand our parks, trails, local attractions, and dining options that enhance our quality of life. By investing in the right amenities, we’ll not only see an economic impact, but also an improvement to the health & well-being and social & community connectedness among us, the residents of Thornton.
